Arogya World held its third annual gala on May 2, at Kendall Culinary College in Chicago—exceeding its fundraising goal and doubling what it raised last year. A portion of the proceeds will go toward Arogya World’s Healthy Schools program to improve the health of children living in rural communities in South India. The rest will go to support of Arogya World’s ongoing work in India and around the world on diabetes prevention through lifestyle change.
At this event, Arogya World recognized the Cigna Foundation, represented by David Figliuzzi, for their exceptional support for non-communicable diseases as an urgent problem we all must act upon.
The event drew more than 140 attendees to the bright and beautiful space, where guests enjoyed food and excellent wine, a recipe demonstration by Kendall College chef, and music by students of the University of Chicago School of Music. There was also an on-site auction, which included two items: a Napa Valley Wine Tour and a Vancouver Getaway and a paddle raise, facilitated by Greg Fuqua, an auctioneer from Ritchie Brothers.
The entire event was underwritten by sponsors and 100% of funds raised will go to Arogya World programs. Gala Co-Chairs Neeru Arora and Jordan Scher kicked off the evening, which had strong corporate support from Quinnox, AON, Mesirow Financial, Hartford Funds, Prairie Capital and others —as well as individual benefactors, sponsors, and friends.
“We are grateful to our many corporate and individual donors for rallying behind Arogya World and our mission to advance the fight against chronic disease,” said Arogya World board member, Dr. Seema Bhathia, who was integral to the success of this event.
Current supporters brought guests and friends; in fact, more than half of the attendees were new to the Arogya World community, expanding the Chicago circle of influencers who want to advocate for healthy lifestyles and the prevention of chronic disease.
