About NCDS
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic lung disease, are one of the 21st century’s greatest health and development challenges. Collectively, these chronic diseases are the leading cause of death in most regions of the world. Globally, the rate of infectious diseases is decreasing, while that of NCDs is increasing. NCDs cause two out of three deaths today, six times as many deaths as HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria combined. NCDs threaten to undermine the progress the world has made against the Millennium Development Goals in the last decade. It is essential to tackle NCDs now so we can leave the world a better place for our children.
These diseases are largely preventable with lifestyle changes. We don’t need new technology or a vaccine. We know what to do: eat healthy foods, increase physical activity and avoid tobacco. We believe it is our generation’s responsibility to fix NCDs. At Arogya World, we take that responsibility seriously.
