Arogya World India Trust launched its mDiabetes program to the first of 200,000 people in Bangalore on World Diabetes Day, November 14, with support from Lions Club District 317A and Lions Club International.
mDiabetes is a free SMS based diabetes awareness and prevention program for people of all socio-economic categories. The program was launched across the regions of Bangalore, Mandya and Mysore in Karnataka.
For this program, Arogya also signed an MOU with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation) for 16,000 street sweepers to receive Arogya’s mDiabetes messages for free. The 18-month program has been designed to reach the broadest population, with three options for the delivery of content: English or Kannada SMS or voicemail, and Kannada recorded calls.
The program content is informative and easy to understand, designed to make the assimilation of mDiabetes effortless for people from all backgrounds. Everyone, from a local BBMP street sweeper to a CEO in a large corporation, can learn and embrace it for a better lifestyle.
