At least 6 out of 10 India’s working population have poor muscle health and low protein scores.
To help positively change attitudes and practices around food intake and to encourage people to eat healthy protein and lead an active lifestyle, Arogya World India Trust partnered with Danone India for its annual event – The Protein Week 2019, July 24–30.
Healthy muscles play an important role in the prevention of disease. Yet protein deficiency is a major challenge in India, with more than 70% of working Indians suffering from poor muscle health, and 93% of Indians unaware of their ideal protein requirement. This has created an urgent need for awareness.
Arogya World strongly believes a balanced meal is essential for a healthy life and is at the core of NCD prevention, and we promote this with our various programs. We are always on the lookout for the right partnerships to help promote a healthy diet, and found one in Danone.
We partnered with Danone, their experts and partners, to help raise awareness around protein intake and muscle health. Our collective goal is to help 100,000 working Indians recognize the importance of protein for healthy muscles by the end of September.
For this, we drew on our expertise and helped build content to inform and educate people around protein intake and better muscle health with Dr. Meghana Pasi, Nutritionist; Anand Valavi from Aadit Life, our fitness expert; and Kshema Kurup for Communications support. Our work for Protein Week included thought-leader articles, recipes, social media outreach, and nutritionist talks that were well received at various corporate offices. In addition, we partnered on a family event featuring muscle health examinations, Q&As, tips, and a press conference.
